Life's Reflections
William Kermit Green, Sr.
On Sunday, August 26, 1956, Mr. David Green and Mrs. Mary Lee Andrews-Green joyfully welcomed the birth of their baby boy, William Kermit Green, affectionately known as “B Down.” A lifelong resident of Bay City, Texas, William lived a life marked by faith, love, service, and dedication to family and community.
William attended Bay City High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1974. He later became a respected entrepreneur, owning and operating his own auto paint and body shop on Avenue D in Bay City, where he built both a livelihood and lasting relationships.
A man of unwavering faith, William always kept his Bible close and maintained a strong relationship with Christ. He answered the call to ministry while serving at Bible Day Revival Church under the leadership of Pastor Tenola Law. After accepting his calling, he led his mother and siblings to Christ, leaving a spiritual legacy that will continue for generations. He later joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and also found joy in the sermons and music of Bishop G.E. Patterson.
William was a devoted family man who deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He cherished time spent fishing and simply being surrounded by those he loved. Known for his favorite saying, “Go get it and come back with it,” he lived a life that encouraged perseverance and purpose. He also enjoyed watching The Price Is Right and cheering for his favorite team, the Houston Texans. His favorite meals included breakfast tacos, and he often requested pig feet and okra stew prepared by his sister June using their mother’s cherished recipe.
William had a heart for his community and a desire to make a difference, which led him to run for mayor of Bay City on three occasions. He was also a proud Mason, committed to brotherhood and service.
He was united in marriage to Dannette Hammond, and together they were blessed with children: William K. Green, Jr., Dannessia Green-Thompson (Eric), Dannetta Green-Parker, and Dannetrica Green.
He also shared meaningful and lasting relationship with his devoted companion, Tanya Robinson.
William Kermit Green, Sr. peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, March 28, 2026, and will be remembered as a man of faith, a loving father, a devoted family man, and a pillar in his community. His life was a testament to trusting God, loving deeply, and living with purpose. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: William K. Green, Jr., Shurnaye Coleman, Dannessia Green-Thompson (Eric), and Dannetta Green-Parker; cherished grandchildren: Lewis, Keiera (Liam), Aaliyah, Luke, Marquerite, Kiaya, Keona, Kiley, and Makayla; great-grandchildren: Izeiah and Daycieon; siblings: James Carrell (Wilma), David Green, Aaron Green (Annette), Charles Deloach (Sarah), Carl Deloach, Geraldine Andrews, June Deloach, Lou Ella Wright, Marilyn Robertson (Lester), Winter Lemon, Joslyn Washington, Sharon Woodard (Elgin), and Stacy Green; companion, Tanya Robinson; bonus children he helped to rear: Tiffany Alexander, Ashley White, and Shamika Hester; bonus grandchildren: Lexy, Cameron, Rylee, Angel, and Miracle; bonus great-grands: Kai, and Korbyn; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, community members, lodge brothers, and dear friends.
