Reflection of Life
On November 4, 1967, a bay boy was born in Bay city, Texas to Rabye Nell Franklin and Philip Merchant, Sr. whom they named Stevie Boris Franklin.
At an early age Stevie confessed his love for God and was baptized at Enterprise Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor J. Weldon Gilbert. Later in life he united with New Fellowship Tabernacle Church, under the leadership of Pastor A. h. Floyd.
Stevie attended elementary, junior high and high school in Bay city, Texas and graduated with the Call of 1986. After graduating high school, he attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and ITT Technical Institute in Houston, Texas. He was a member of Teamster Local 956 and he was a Mason of Gulf Coast lodge #272. His last employer was Maxim Crane where he was the Safety Superintendent.
Stevie’s pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He was always provided a safety nest for them. He loved having a good time and made sure everyone else enjoyed themselves. His favorite NFL football team of all times was the San Francisco 49ers.
Stevie’s earthly journey came to an end on Monday, March 1, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rabye Nell Franklin and Philip Merchant, Sr.; and sister, Jo Lange Ridge.
