Shirley Ann (Jones) Ferguson

Shirley Ann Ferguson, 75 departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. She was born October 22, 1947, to Otis Eugene and Annie Lee Jones in Joliet, IL.

She received Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Joliet, IL. under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Isaac Singleton, Sr. She attended Joliet School District and received her diploma from Joliet Junior College. She retired from MD Anderson Police Department in 2015.

She is preceded in death by her parents Otis and Annie Jones; grandparents Miry and Isa Ulmer, Frank and Mildred Jones; former husband Harvey Lee Ferguson; son Novell Woods; sister Debra Jones; and dear friend Thelma Holmes

She leaves to cherish her loving memory children: Felicia Woods, Jada (Chris) Lowery, Fredrick Ferguson, Ann Ferguson, all of Houston, TX, and Shirley Faye (Christian) Achonu of Nigeria, AF; brothers: Otis Jones, Jr. of San Jose, CA, Fernando Abdullah, Orlando Jones, and Fredrick Dean Jones, sisters: Patricia Ann Jones and Mildred Evans, aunt: Kathy McKenzie all of Houston, TX, and dear friend: Velma Faye Lindsey of Joliet, IL along with 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and extended family members.

As per Mom’s request, no public funeral or memorial service will be held.
