Prince “Kip” Robertson
Prince Robertson was born November 19, 1961, in Bay City, Texas to Bettie Robertson and Prince Lewis, Sr. Growing up he was reared by his mother and father, Wilbert Anthony Smith. He was affectionately known as “Kip” to all who knew and loved him.
Prince was baptized at an early age at Mother Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He attended public schools at Bay City Independent School District graduating with the Class of 1981. He had a passion for sports with football being his favorite. Kip played a special part on the Bay City Blackcats Football Team wearing jersey # 81.
Prince was a man of few words until you start talking about the Dallas Cowboys aka “Dem Boys” then he wouldn’t stop talking. He was an avid sports card collector and boy did he have a collection. His nieces and nephews were the joy of his life. He also loved his family and looked forward to family reunions each year so he could display his shirt proudly.
During his adulthood Prince was employed by Bay City ISD and The Daily Tribune.
Prince entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Prince Lewis, Sr. and Wilbert Smith; grandmothers, Catherine Brown, Estella Powell, and Rosalie Griggs; grandfathers, Horace Lewis, Woodworth Smith, and Eddie Griggs, Sr.; sisters, Myrna “Sweet Thang” Lewis Foston, and Rita Wells; brother, Glennie Lewis; and a special cousin, Robert “Bubba” Griggs.
Prince leaves to mourn his most precious memories to his mom, Bettie Smith; six sisters, Sonya Billingsley (Michael), Valerie Austin, Diane Lewis-Charles, Rosalind Alexander, Catherine Jones, and Sherre Lewis; brother, Prince Lewis, Jr.; a special nephew, Xavier Linson-Smith; special aunt, Hazel Johnson; other aunts, Eula Fisher, Irma Stone, Ida Moore, Catherine McPherson (Eric), Ola Times, and Carolyn Griggs; uncles, Elroy Griggs (Sharon), Eddie Griggs, Sr. (Gwendolyn), Lewis Griggs (Vivian), Benjamin Griggs, and Edgar Lewis; god-brother, Donnell Simpson (Trintessa); god-sisters, Terrisha Mays, Lisa Sidney and Audrey Lemon; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss him tremendously.
