Eugene H. Sorrell Obituary

Remembering

Eugene Herbert Sorrell

Today we gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. Eugene Herbert Sorrell. On Sunday, September 16, 1945, Mr. J.B. Sorrell and Mrs. Luvenia Moore-Sorrell welcomed their baby boy, Eugene Herbert Sorrell, into the world in Cedar Lane, Texas. From that beginning, Eugene would grow into a man known for his kindness, faithfulness, and servant’s heart.

Eugene attended O.H. Herman School in Van Vleck, Texas, and later became employed by the Van Vleck Independent School District, where he faithfully served students, faculty, and staff in the school cafeteria. Through his work, he touched many lives with his quiet dedication and caring spirit.

Eugene enjoyed the simple joys of life. He loved working Word Search books, watching westerns, and following basketball and football games. He especially loved being outdoors and spending precious time with family and friends.

Known for his generous and helpful nature, Eugene never hesitated to lend a helping hand, no matter how small the task may have been. His kindness and willingness to serve others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Most importantly, Eugene was a lifetime member of The First Berean Baptist Church in the Live Oak Community, where he served faithfully on the usher board. His commitment to God and his church family reflected the quiet strength of his faith and his love for serving others.

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Eugene peacefully departed this life in Angleton, Texas. Though he is no longer with us in body, the memories of his kindness, faithfulness, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Eugene leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Nina Roberson (Rev. James), and brother, Eddie B. Sorrell (Rita). He was preceded in death by his brothers, Earnest Sorrell Sr. and Benjamin Sorrell.

We thank God for the life of Eugene Herbert Sorrell; a humble servant, devoted family member, faithful church worker, and friend to many. May his life continue to inspire us to serve, love, and care for one another.
