Elinor Delphine Bernard, 62, most affectionately known as “Sadie”, was born on June 6, 1959, in Cedar Lake, Texas, to the late Clifford Bernard Sr. and Lillie Bernard. She passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital.

Sadie spent most of her time in school at Van Vleck ISD but graduated from Sweeny High School in 1977. She was involved in basketball, cheerleading, and softball. Sadie earned her bachelor’s degree in 1981, from Sam Houston State University. Sadie was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father: Clifford Bernard, Sr.; mother: Lillie Bernard; brothers: Booker T. “Lester” Bernard and Thomas “Meatloaf” Bernard; and two sisters-in-law: Wanda Bernard and Dorthy Bernard.

Sadie leaves to mourn three daughters: Lillie (Orlando) Jefferson (Orlando) of Spring, Texas, Stacy (Carlos Robinson) Bernard of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Cierra Bernard of Cedar Lake, Texas; six siblings Gladys (Andrew, Sr.) Thomas, Clifford Bernard. Jr., Charles Bernard, and Jerry Bernard all of Cedar Lake, Texas, Matthew (Rosalyn) Bernard, Sr. of Missouri City, Texas, and June (David) Babineaux of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren: Quinton Jefferson, Brylon Jefferson, and Xian Thigpen; sister-in-law: Carolyn Bernard of Bay City, Texas; aunts: Jewel Austin of Cedar Lake, Texas, Willie Mae Friar of Houston, Texas, Earnestine Austin of Van Vleck, Texas, and Shirley Conway of Caldwell, Texas; close and dear friend: Gracie Prince of Cedar Lake, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
