Charles Lee Jefferson "Big Nub"
On Friday, May 20, 1966 in Freeport, Texas Charlie Lanier and Jetta Jefferson welcomed their baby boy Charles Lee into the world. As a child Charles attended First Baptist Church of Freeport, Texas. It was there that he was baptized.
Charles was very athletic. While growing up he enjoyed playing football, basketball and running track. He had a great number of achievements from little league that continued throughout his high school career where he led his football team to State each year. He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1985. Following high school graduation Charles earned a full athletic scholarship to Prairie View A&M University where he could continue playing football for well known purple and gold Prairie View Panthers.
After college Charles continued his love for sports by working out and supporting his favorite professional team, The Texans. Although very athletic, Charles was known as a gentle giant to his family and friends. As a gentle giant he enjoyed a good movie and some good food including chicken, collard greens and mac-and-cheese.
Charles relocated to Dallas, Texas. In Dallas Charles united with the Fellowship of Worship Bible Church. Charles was also a hard worker. For 15 years he was self-employed as a truck driver. He drove until 2007 when he retired. In 2016 Charles relocated to Clute, Texas. Charles was passionate about traveling and entertaining family and friends. He enjoyed and lived his life to the fullest.
Charles went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 6:40 in the evening. Charles will be greatly missed, and his memory will live on through all who loved him. This including his children, Charles Noctavius (Brenda) Jefferson, Shequette Moneke Bush, Daunte Fisher, Daquinnton Qdarrion Jefferson, and Janiyah Jefferson; his four grandchildren, Ciarra Jefferson, Caleb Jefferson, Camillia A Jefferson, and Zaavan Bush; three siblings, Walter “Bubba” (Bertha) Daniels Jefferson, Jude “Jettamae” Warren, Oneal Jefferson; special friends, Stacy Abalos, Troy Lacey, Rodrick Watson, George Johnson, Abel Moreno, Sarah Jane Wright, Jackie Young, Angie Walker, the entire Brazosport Class of 1985 and Prairie View A&M Alumni as well as a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
